What can I search for in the database?

Print

You can search of local legislations of the 1,616 local government units in the Philippines. Local government units refer to the Provinces, Cities and Municipalities all throughout the country. The local legislations contained herein are those ratified from 1992, which was the start of the implementation of the Local Government Code of 1991, and up to the present.

You can search for the local public officials. If the data is available, you can also see the list of legislations sponsored or authored by each local public official.

You can also search for a specific local government unit.

What do you mean by "keyword"

Print

Keyword would represent a word or set of characters that you would like to look for. For example, if you are searching for any "health" related legislations, you can enter in the textbox the word "health" (without the quotation marks, of course). If you enter "health legislations" then the search will limit to documents that contain exactly that phrase. There might documents that are health related but do not contain the exact phrase ("health legislations"). By the way, in the computer language a space is treated as a character. So if you enter "health _ _ legislations" with more than one space between the words, then the search engine will look for documents with exactly that--"health _ _ legislations" with two spaces in between. So it is advisable to be precise in entering the keyword or just simply the word "health". The search engine affords you to further refine the search results.

What documents are included?

Print

Only ratified Ordinances are supposed to be included in the database. But the local government units that will maintain their own set of database using this website can include Resolutions, if they wish to.

What security measures are instituted

Print

For web pages that need to be secured, we use the industry standard SSL(Secured Sockets Layer) to protect data transmission between the client computer and the server. This is to minimize the possibility of having eavesdropper capturing clear text transmission of data. There is no fool-proof security measure however to guard us from determined individuals. It is therefore imperative for LGUs to be vigilant in securing the user account and password that they will use to access the database and make modifications.

From our end, we practice security enhancement measures to guard against security breaches. Again, there is no fool-proof measure to protect against the evil schemes emanating the Internet. We can only be vigilant. We therefore need to help us maintain the security of our system.

Depending on the future need, we may implement digital signing for each document available for download.
